Last month I spent some time in the Catskills painting and drawing with friends. It was an an amazing time and a nice shift from the intensity of NYC. I lugged my 50mm square front LOMO around the world with me- some confused looks from airport security.

I am happy to see that this cinematic trailer won “best trailer at E3″. I worked with the team at Digic Pictures providing digital matte paintings for the castle. I’m a big fan of the filmic quality Digic brings to their trailers. The camera work, lighting and motion capture/animation is superb.

The Tassie wilderness has a special place in my heart- specifically Cradle mountain and Lake St Clair. This is the second visit, the first with our son who hopefully will grow up with an appreciation for this environment. The air is crisp, the weather changes rapidly and the wildlife is abundant. It brings rejuvenation and a nice break from the clutter and choking city. I took down my new gear- 70′s LOMO anamorphics and a slider. Here are a few stills from the 50mm…

Beyond the trench is 85 x 85cm oil on linen painted for the Gallipoli Memorial Club art prize. It’s somber tone tries to deal with the psychology and human conditions of the Gallipoli Campaign in the hills beyond Anzac Cove.
